Description: The Benefits and Compensation Specialist is responsible for the administration and development, of employee benefit programs aimed to attract, motivate and retain employees while adhering to the companys defined budget. AmeriVet is a rapidly growing veterinary network of practices around the country. The ideal candidate will also be responsible for compensation and benefit projects in order to assist and support with the development of our network of practices. The Benefits and Compensation Specialist also provides excellent customer service to employees and regional leaders by supplying them with the information, education and support they need to understand and utilize the programs provided by the company.The role will operate within a matrixed structure and will work as part of a globally dispersed team.Job Responsibilities --- Manages the administration of health, welfare and retirement plans, including assisting with benefits transactions that occur during the life-cycle of employment.--- Provides front line support to all employees in relation to all employer sponsored benefits.--- Troubleshoots employee claims issues, coverage questions, and general information. Attending to and responding to employee queries in a timely and effective manner.--- Develops a deep relationship with the regional operations and field HR community operating as a stakeholder manager with the geographic HR team, the Global Reward team and partners in Finance and payroll.--- Able to successfully operate within a matrixed structure and work as part of a global team.--- Is able to clearly present and recommend benefits programs to management based on a cost/benefit analysis.--- Manages the maintenance of ongoing data file feeds, ensuring accuracy of enrollments, changes, and terminations.--- Supports processing of monthly billings and preparation of payment for all group plans and other related benefits invoices.--- Assist with conducting audits of payroll deductions to ensure accuracy between enrollment election and deduction code.--- Assists in the development, design, and distribution of benefits communication and education material.--- Ensures that employee benefits communications material is accurate, timely, and easy to understand.--- Supports the preparation of annual open enrollment materials and presentations.--- Complies with federal and state regulations as well as contract adherence, but not limited to, FLSA and Affordable Care Act reporting requirements and other compliance reporting.--- Supports American with Disability (ADA) issues and requests with employees, managers and leadership as required.--- Ensures that COBRA compliance is completed on a timely basis both through Payroll and Vendors for new hires, terminations, etc.--- Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, obtaining qualified opinions; enforcing adherence to requirements; and advising management on needed actions.--- Reviews and ensures all 5500 filings and ACA compliance is completed on a timely basis --- Prepare analysis, reports, and presentations, EEO-1, VETS 100, and AAP reports.--- Supports the annual employee benefits open enrollment and life event enrollment while working with HRIS team to verify enrollment options are accurately planned, input, and processed in HRIS system.--- Ensures security of confidential information.--- Works closely with the HRIS team to ensure accurate and consistent workforce data is held and is being transferred accurately to appropriate third parties.PM19. Requirements: Job Requirements--- Legally authorized to work in the United States without restrictions--- Bachelors degree in business administration, human resources or other applicable field of study, preferred, but not required--- Strong analytical skills, ability to analyse statistical/financial data, understand cost impact to business and develop recommendations--- Proficient understanding of benefits administration software and/or ability to learn new software--- High proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook--- Experience with developing employee communications--- Extensive knowledge and experience with Federal, State and local employee benefit laws affecting benefit programs such as ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA and Section 125, RRSP & TFSA--- Experience with some process quality/improvement methodology preferred.
