Job Description:

Purpose of Job The Senior Financial Officer is responsible for the direction, control and coordination of all financial, accounting, and planning activities within their assigned line of business or staff agency. This position will be responsible for monitoring the system of accounting and financial controls. The Sr. Financial Officer will be responsible for development, reporting, and analysis of operational and strategic financial and operating budgets and forecasts. In addition, the Sr. Financial Officer evaluates current and proposed business plans and makes recommendations that will accrue to the profitability of the product or service, provide additional member value, or increase the productivity of expenses. Job Requirements Tasks:Establishes control procedures and monitors the Financial Accounting functions including revenue and expense recognition, accounts receivable and accounts payable.Responsible for establishing appropriate quantification techniques, the appropriate use of data, for review and control processes to ensure the accuracy of actual and projected financial statements.Leads the financial planning, forecasting and stress testing impact analysis processes for the one or more Companies including budget development, planning meetings, monthly business meetings, monthly reporting and briefing support.Promotes the effective integration and communication of forecast drivers and assumptions.Serves as a liaison between CFO and the Company.Develops and delivers standardized P&L and Balance Sheet monthly, quarterly and annual management results of actual results for one or more Companies and product lines.Provides detailed performance commentary of actual results.Responsible for reporting results of operations to the President and senior leadership.Through monthly and ongoing analysis, understands emerging trends and engages with management to develop and operationalize plans to improve financial performance for the Company and/or product lines.Solve or participate in solving key business issues.Responsible for ensuring long-term financial strength of the Company through the identification/quantification of risk, setting capital targets to cover those risks, and ensuring financial goals are aligned to maintain the desired target capital.Responds to third party requests for information, including Regulators and Rating Agencies.Participate in benchmarking Company results against competitors.Manages a financial function and associated team or teams, including development of strategy, goals and objectives.Leads and coaches a staff to facilitate professional development.Ensures effective utilization of systems and technology to ensure streamlined effective and efficient processes.Responsible for the development and maintenance of SFO tools.Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, or related field required.
  • 4 additional years of related experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted in lieu of a degree.Minimum Experience:
    • 10 or more years of progressive related experience developing strategies, managing major initiatives and delivering results within a complex Matrix environment required.
    • 6 or more years of people leadership experience in building, managing and/or developing high-performing teams required.
    • Experience collaborating with key resources and stakeholders, influencing decisions and managing work to achieve strategic goals required.
    • Executive-level business acumen in the areas of business operations, industry practices and emerging trends required.
    • Preferred Experience:
      • Financial Services experience in banking is required and demonstrated understanding of financial services regulatory requirements across banking and insurance.
      • Proven ability to lead companywide financial related initiatives such as business transformation, SOX Compliance and PCI Compliance.
      • In-depth understanding of the technology and related technology components of the business and be able to translate strategic discussions into tactical financial modeling assumptions, creating cost and cost recovery models with projected billpayer impacts and benefits identification/recapture.
      • Perform strategic assessments against financial performance as it compares to other leaders in the FS industry.
      • Deep domain knowledge in IT and Program/Portfolio Management.
      • Knowledge and working familiarity with SAFe or similar Agile delivery methods.
      • Establish and operate effective corporate governance over all aspects of financial approvals, spending, benefits realization, etc.
      • Ability to create and analyze lean business cases, with validation of IRRs and benefit realization recapture with summarized Committee level reporting.
      • Demonstrated familiarity with corporate restructuring, acquisitions, divestitures and other onetime events is critical.
      • Demonstrated expertise of understanding of technology and related technology components of the business and be able to translate strategic discussions into tactical financial modeling assumptions, creating cost and cost recovery models with projected bill payer impacts and benefits identification/recapture.
