SENIOR TAX DIRECTOR POSITION At Carlee J Perez, CPA, PC, we deliver
trusted, personalized tax and accounting services with the warmth
and close attention of a true family office. With fewer than five
team members, our group is approachable, client-first, and always
ready to lend a hand—whether it’s backing up a teammate or walking
a client through a tricky tax situation. We’re looking for an
experienced Senior Tax Director to join us and lead with sharp
expertise and real heart. You’ll manage and review returns, keep
everything accurate and compliant, and offer clear, thoughtful
guidance to clients and staff year-round. The perfect fit brings
deep tax know-how, loves working as part of a tight-knit group, and
takes pride in work that builds lasting client trust. The core
competencies of this role are tax expertise, accuracy attention to
detail, software proficiency, client relationship management, team
collaboration and time management. YOU ARE PERFECT FOR CARLEE J
PEREZ, CPA, PC IF… You have 7 years preparing complex 1040s and
business tax returns (1065, 1120-S and 1120), plus a minimum of 4
years reviewing and managing tax work. You’re comfortable with
multi-state returns, Section 1031 exchanges, real estate investors,
QBI, passive activity rules, S-Corp basis, and the like; experience
with trusts (1041) or gift and estate taxes are a bonus. Your CPA
license and PTIN have stayed active for the past 7 years. You can
run your own schedule, hit deadlines, and keep things
accurate—without re-doing a whole return or sweating tiny stuff
(like a $2–$5 difference or travel vs. office supplies). You know
what really matters: you focus on the big picture, catch missed
deductions or credits (did we get that loan interest?), and keep
returns strong without chasing perfection. You review smart—trust
the preparers you know, adjust your depth by person, and leave
clear, short notes. You only pull someone aside if the same mistake
keeps happening; you’re patient and kind, even on long weeks. You
love a small, family-style team: pitching in, staying flexible,
helping clients, and jumping in wherever needed—including those
sometimes long weekends during tax season. You build
accountability, streamline how we work, and keep the vibe positive
and supportive. Important: We do zero audits or assurance work—if
that’s your background, this isn’t the fit. We’re all about tax.
RESPONSIBILITIES TAX PREPARATION Prepare accurate, moderate to
complex individual income tax returns (1040s), moderate to complex
business tax returns (1065, 1120S and 1120), Trust returns (1041),
Gift Tax returns (709), and other specialty filings as required.
Perform reviews of individual and business tax returns prepared by
other team members, ensuring accuracy and compliance. Assist with
preparing tax projections and estimates to support client planning
and financial goals. Conduct research on tax-related questions or
issues, identifying and implementing appropriate solutions. Handle
sensitive and confidential client data securely and in accordance
with company policies, including if working in a secure, private
home office. Manage tasks efficiently to meet deadlines, especially
during the intensity of tax season. Be adaptable to the increased
demands of tax season, including longer hours when necessary. Ask
clarifying questions to ensure understanding and accuracy in your
work. Maintain a high level of professionalism and emotional
intelligence in all interactions. Communicate effectively with
internal team members to deliver quality service, even when
client-facing contact is limited. Balance serious, detail-oriented
tasks with contributing to a positive and supportive team culture.
Be responsive via phone and Microsoft Teams during work hours.
MANAGEMENT & TEAM LEADERSHIP Lead and mentor junior staff,
providing guidance, training, and constructive feedback to help
them grow and succeed. Stay responsive to clients during work
hours—happy to answer a quick question, grab a missing doc, or just
help them feel supported. Delegate tasks efficiently, managing
workflow to meet deadlines during peak periods. Identify
opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices
to enhance team efficiency. Monitor staff workload and provide
support to ensure productivity while maintaining a collaborative
and positive environment. Foster accountability within the team
while maintaining a supportive and encouraging culture. Communicate
expectations clearly, ensuring each team member understands their
responsibilities. Promote professional development opportunities
for staff, helping them build skills and confidence. Serve as a
point of escalation for questions or issues that require managerial
oversight or expertise. MAIN SYSTEMS WE USE Experience using these
