Job Description Job Description Description: TITLE: Plant Controller REPORTS TO: Corporate Controller LOCATION: San Antonio, Texas The Company Velocity Bioworks is a U.S.-based biopharma CDMO headquartered in San Antonio, Texas supporting funded programs as they move from development into manufacturing for clinical trials. We collaborate with sponsors who are past exploration and are ready to apply discipline, structure, and technical rigor to development, analytics, and manufacturing. Velocity is built to accelerate speed to clinic through aligned execution. Our work focuses on translating defined program goals into scalable manufacturing processes and robust analytical strategies. These activities are designed to support near-term clinical timelines while meeting quality requirements. We operate where quality and execution directly influence clinical progress. Position Summary Reporting directly to the Corporate Controller, the Plant Controller will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations of our manufacturing facility, ensuring compliance with accounting principles and practices, and providing financial insights to support strategic decision-making at Velocity Bioworks, Inc. Key Responsibilities Manage all accounting operations including billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, inventory/cost accounting, and revenue recognition. Maintain general ledger day to day through to and including month-end closings. Implements and maintains proper internal controls. Manage and control all expenses, accruals, and capital projects. Conduct accurate and timely month and year-end closings in accordance with corporate policy. Prepare monthly reporting package to parent company within mandated timelines. Coordinates physical inventories. Manage and direct the inventory and financial standards for items and materials within the manufacturing realm including recording, pricing, and documenting physical inventories. Process fixed asset additions, transfers, and disposals. Oversee capital and expense project justification. Conduct financial evaluations of new parts, cost/work centers, projects, and strategic business opportunities. Provide direction and data on financial issues as needed. Analyze variances and provide recommendations to promote productivity, efficiency, and profitability. Collaborate with the corporate accounting team, plant accountants, and senior management to explain results, make improvements, manage projects, identify inefficiencies, understand operations, and lead the development of complex analysis. Serve on special projects as requested. Requirements: Education & Experience Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license preferred. Public accounting experience with 5 years of private industry experience, preferably in the manufacturing/pharmaceutical industry. Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.), QuickBooks Online and NetSuite (preferred). Understanding of SOX 404 and 302. Comfortable in an entrepreneurial environment with changing priorities and developing systems, policies, and procedures. Knowledge & Skills Exceptional internal and external relationship management capabilities. Diplomacy, listening, independent work skills, and strong work ethic. Excellent problem-solving skills, and business decision-making skills. Strong attention to detail; self-motivation with strong organization, communication (written and verbal), and computer skills (expertise with Excel, PowerPoint, and Word). Physical & Travel Requirements Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Travel (outside of Velocity Bioworks office): Work is generally performed Monday-Friday, onsite within the Velocity facility and during normal business operating hours.
