JOVENJOB DESCRIPTION TITLE: After School Teacher (TCLAS)STATUS:
Part-Time/Non-ExemptSUPERVISOR: After School Site
CoordinatorLOCATION: 507 E. Mayfield Blvd./Community OBJECTIVE OF
POSITION:JOVEN is looking for Teachers to join our JOVEN Team in
our High Quality Afterschool program. Under the direction of the
Site Coordinator, the Teacher is responsible for the overall
day-to-day group academic programming, discipline, direct
supervision, and management of an assigned group of children as
assigned by the Program Director. This position requires Monday -
Friday 2:00 - 6:30 PM availability; 22.5 hours a week; $15.00
hourly. DUTIES & RESPONSIBLITES:
- Academic instruction and program enrichment including the
delivery of program curriculum and homework assistance. This could
include day-to-day group programming, discipline, direct
supervision and management of 15 children in the after-school
program
- Preserve the quality of supplies, equipment and materials.
Ensuring supplies remain appropriately stocked by reporting
re-order needs to the Site Supervisor
- Provide regular inspections of areas used by the program to
ensure both cleanliness and safety
- Maintain close coordination with facility personnel for safety
and benefit of children in the program
- Document behavior issues and/or incidents daily, as needed
- Report notable health issues of each child daily noting fever,
bumps, bruises, burns, or other questionable signs of abuse and
document the incident with the Site Coordinator. Report all
incidents and accidents immediately to Site Coordinator
- Plan, supervise and implement activities for assigned group of
children in accordance to both age and developmentally appropriate
practices by submitting monthly curriculums / lesson plans to Site
Coordinator in a timely and neat manner
- Adhere to the Child Abuse & Neglect Reporting requirements
which mandate by law all child care personnel to report suspicions
of child abuse, neglect, or abandonment. JOVEN requires employees
to follow the internal reporting procedures with the assistance of
the Project Director
- Ensure that the proper staffs to child ratios are maintained at
all times and reports discrepancies to the Site Coordinator as
needed.
- Arranges medical attention for ill or injured child in
accordance with JOVEN policy
- Demonstrate a sense of teamwork, flexibility, and
organizational support
- Attend meetings and trainings as applicable
- Accurately complete all service documentation, data input,
filing and other required program forms complying with the
procedures and timelines of grants and programs.
- Performs other duties and assignments as required
- Provide a caring family-oriented environment where positive
child/adult relationships are developed
- Delivering targeted academic support aligned with individual
student needs, high-quality curriculum and instruction. This
academic support prioritizes High-Impact Tutoring (HIT)
- Confers with Site Coordinator regarding child's behavioral or
learning problems, and recommends methods of modifying
inappropriate behavior and encouraging learning experiences
- Teacher must spend on-the-job time on the following physical
activities: Stand; Walk; Sit; Talk/Hear; Use hands to handle or
feel; Climb or balance; Stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; Reach with
hands or arms; Taste or smell; There is a 25-pound lifting weight
requirement in this position.
- Transport youth enrolled in program in JOVEN's 12-15 passenger
vehicle. REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
- May need to lift up to 25 lbs. and may require frequent
lifting, bending, walking, climbing stairs, reaching and pulling.
Must have ability to use manual dexterity on keyboard.
- Ability to use computer programs with intermediate
proficiency
- Ability to assume postures in low levels to allow physical and
visual contact with children, see and hear well enough to keep
children safe, and engage in physical activity with children.
- A love for children and a strong desire to make a difference
every day MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Maintain confidentiality of all information regarding clients
and employees of JOVEN and familiar with and follows all policies
and procedures of JOVEN
- Maintain vehicle insurance as per Texas state law
- Complete timesheets and activity logs as required MINIMUM
QUALIFICATIONS:
- The minimum amount of formal or informal education required to
perform the position successfully is education or job knowledge
equivalent to college or university undergraduate education. The
minimum amount of relevant work experience required is at least two
