Rheumatologistto lead and grow the program asSection Chief,
Rheumatology atThe Childrens Hospital of San Antonio and in
partnership with the Baylor College of Medicine. The Childrens
Hospital of San Antonio is the first and only freestanding,
academic, not-for-profit childrens hospital in San Antonio.Located
in the nations seventh largest city and the second largest city in
Texas, San Antonio offers a pediatric population expected to grow
an additional 30 percent over the next 20 years offering an
exceptional professional opportunity.
In addition, we are looking for Board-Eligible and Board-Certified
Pediatric Rheumatologists to join the growing Pediatric
Responsibilities include caring for patients at the Childrens
Hospital of San Antonio and its community and satellite clinics.
Successful candidates will be physicians who are clinically focused
on exceptional patient care and have an interest in academic
medicine, teaching residents and medical students.These positions
are employed by Baylor College of Medicine and offer a highly

At The Childrens Hospital of San Antonio, you will find an
established legacy of care dating back to 1869 when the Sisters of
Charity of the Incarnate Word arrived in San Antonio and health
care for women and children was transformed. Brought to the city by
Claude Marie Dubuis, a Frenchman who was the Bishop of all Texas,
three Sisters arrived in San Antonio to find a town plagued by a
cholera epidemic and the remnants of the Civil War. By 1891, the
Sisters congregation had grown to nearly 200 and had established
the Santa Rosa Infirmary.
The Sisters continued to care for the children of San Antonio
throughout the 21stcentury, building the first and only hospital
for children, Santa Rosa Childrens Hospital, in 1959. The hospital
became part of the CHRISTUS family in 1999.
The Childrens Hospital of San Antonio is the culmination of the
vision of the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word and the
CHRISTUS Health System leadership. The organization now employs
over 1,000 staff members, including a 400-nurse team who earned
Magnet designation in 2018.
