Purpose of JobWe are seeking a talented Senior Cloud DevOps
Engineer for our San Antonio, TX or Plano, TX facility. This person
may also work remotely in a 100% remote work environment.

The person selected for this role will have the opportunity to
embark on an exciting journey of establishing the AWS Cloud
platform for USAA Life Company and be a part of the Cloud
Enablement Team. They will work with multiple cutting edge AWS
Cloud Services and integration technologies to launch our Policy
Administration Systems for Life Insurance and Annuities products.
They will work with IaC tools and technologies to enable and
support a variety of IaaS services for AWS or GCP. They will launch
production ready platforms that encompass Public Cloud Control
maturity, availability management and Cloud FinOps maturity. In
doing so, we support USAA mission to serve military members and
their families.
Responsible for creating, modifying, maintaining, and supporting
infrastructure and individual system components that enable
business functions and IT Services. Balance availability, security,
efficiency, and functional requirements to help provide an
optimized production service. Identify and manage existing and
emerging risks that stem from business activities and ensure these
risks are effectively identified and escalated to be measured,

- Identifies and manages existing and emerging risks that stem
from business activities and the job role.
- Ensures risks associated with business activities are
effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled. - -

- Follows written risk and compliance policies and procedures for
business activities.
- Independently designs scalable infrastructure, provides
oversight and priority for system change - reserves execution for
complex implementations, automates service delivery and maintenance
tasks, provides direction and priority for monitoring and tooling
activities.
- Independently resolves complex production issues, and leads
troubleshooting of end-to-end solutions that span multiple
systems
- Leads analysis of end-to-end system failures to identify
opportunities across multiple systems
- Independently experiments with new patterns and
technologies
- Helps establish and improve engineering best practices,
concepts, and patterns
- Understands the customer and independently identifies solutions
and ideas for the customer and independently evaluates potential
solutions
- Mentor and coach junior engineers.Minimum requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in related field of study,
- OR
- 4 additional years of related experience beyond the minimum
required.
- 6 years of infrastructure experience demonstrating depth of
technical understanding within a specific
discipline(s)/technology(s) to include 2 years' experience in
Systems Operations environment supporting complex environment
deployment and infrastructure management activities.When you apply

experience:
- Rich in technical expertise and high curiosity to take
calculated risks to move the technology forward to achieve business
objectives with time sensitive delivery execution.
- 7+ years of experience in large AWS Cloud Migrations and or
establishing new Cloud environments for critical insurance
applications.
- 7+ years of experience designing and building of multi-tenant
AWS Cloud IaaS Solutions employing design patterns of Serverless ,
events , messaging, distributed caching etc. using Spring,
OpenShift , Kafka, BMC Control M
- Proficient in building monitoring and alerting dashboards
employing strong SRE principles.
- Experience & understanding of multiple AWS technology and
services like IaC, IAM, EKS,SQS, Fargate, Lambda , S3, Aurora,
Secrets Manager, Qlik, Macie, Datadog etc
- Demonstrates extreme accountability and zeal to experiment &
learn with an passion to drive solutions.
- Extensive experience with debugging and trouble-shooting
enterprise applications across multiple stacks.
- Motivates self and team members towards building a "One team"
spirit with continuous improvement.The above description reflects

market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain
competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your
experience and market position. The salary range for this skill is:
$106,800 - $192,300* Employees may be eligible for pay incentives
based on overall corporate and individual performance or at the
discretion of the USAA Board of Directors. Geographical
Differential: Geographic pay differential is additional pay
provided to eligible employees working in locations where market
pay levels are above the national average.Shift premium: will be
addressed on an individual-basis for applicable roles that are
