Job Description:
Description Responsible for performing skilled work in
administering and enforcing the regulations set forth in the County
code for Stormwater, Erosion and Sediment Control, Chesapeake Bay
Preservation Act (CBPA), Floodplain, and Tidal Wetlands. Reviews
site plans, subdivision plans, and single family building permit
applications as well as demolition permit applications for
completeness, accuracy, and compliance with the above regulations.
Completes a natural resources inventory for each address. Makes
site visits and performs inspections of Best Management Practices
(BMPs). Reviews and evaluates stream assessments for determining
perenniality. Develops guidelines for non-complying use &
development waivers, encroachments, and allowable development in
the CBPA buffer. Assists homeowners, builders, surveyors, and
others in understanding the CBPA regulations, and the regulations'
impact on property. Minimum Qualifications Associate's degree in
engineering, biology or related field and 1 to 3 years of
experience in engineering, computers, or a related field; or any
equivalent combination of education and experience which provides
the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Certified through
the Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) as a Dual Stormwater
Management (SWM) and Erosion and Sediment Control (ESC) Inspector,
or have the ability to become certified and complete within 24
months of hire date. Applicants with a bachelor's degree in
Engineering, Biology, or a related field, DEQ certification, and
3-5 years or more of experience may be considered for hire in the
capacity of Engineering Specialist II and at a base salary of
$54,527. Possession of a valid driver's license issued by the
Commonwealth of Virginia. Supplemental Information This position is

which requires the employee to report to work during inclement and
extreme weather conditions, often outside normally scheduled work
hours, or as notified by a supervisor. DMV records check conducted

operate a variety of office equipment, engineering machinery and
tools including a level, blueprint machine, computer, calculator,
drafting utensils, etc. Must be physically able to operate a motor
