Who We Are:The Space Systems Division is a multidisciplinary team of engineers, program managers, and technicians that develop spaceflight missions, spacecraft, spacecraft avionics systems, spacecraft payloads, and lighter than air systems.Objectives of this Role:This position is for a Spacecraft Lead within the Spacecraft Development department.The Spacecraft Lead will support a Mission Manager with the development and procurements associated with the Spacecraft platform for Science, Commercial and DoD space mission.The Spacecraft Lead will assure the spacecraft platform meets all performance and environmental test requirements prior to delivery to the Space Observatory and Launch Site.Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:Work with Systems Engineering to interpret mission requirements to develop hardware requirements, and identify in-house or procured space hardware solutions.Manage in-house hardware development and outside vendors.Develop statement of work for suppliers, review/disposition proposals and work with contracts department to implement subcontracts and task orders.Integrate in-house and supplier schedules to assure proper work flow.Form development teams for implementation, develop cost and schedule estimates, track development status through product life-cycle and report to the Mission Manager and end customers.Form and lead tiger teams to resolve non-conformances or schedule issues.Requirements:Requires a Bachelors or a Masters in Electrical, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering10 years: Space hardware development including requirement synthesis, procurements, manufacturing and testingFamiliarity with space hardware design process including design for manufacturabilityStrong leadership and communications skillsGood organizational skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, high-tech environment.Experience in schedule planning tools (MS Project), word processing and presentation software (MS Office)A valid/clear driver's license is requiredPDN-993351c5-5e70-4c1d-ae66-5020bbc3a6a3
