Supporting the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA)
research and development agency for the U.S. Department of Defense
(DoD). DARPA's Information Technology Directorate (ITD) is
responsible for providing and managing administrative networks to
the Agency for typical IT administrative requirements such as back
office applications, collaboration, project management, reporting,
financial, and other such day-to-day operational requirements.
These IT requirements are known as common use or commodity IT
solutions. Additionally, ITD provides mission critical and research
networks, systems, and services to the Agency and for its
performers.

Clearance Requirements
- Candidate must have a DoD Secret Clearance. Top Secret w/ SCI
eligibility preferred. Essential Role and Responsibilities
- Maintain and improve the health and security of multiple secure
enclaves by helping to install, configure, maintain, and monitor
core network infrastructure including routers, switches, firewalls
and other network components.
- Lead major project initiatives and develop configurations using
expertise in routing protocols, firewalls, datacenter protocols,
security requirements and network virtualization.
- Design, develop, build, and test network engineering solutions
as part of a team that introduces new technologies and/or improves
existing technologies in compliance with established project
management processes.
- Work closely with end users to solicit and document unique
network operating requirements and work closely with other system
engineers and administrators to ensure secure communications and
prevent unauthorized intrusion within and between multiple mission
networks.
- Document SOPs, produce network security documentation, and help
implement network monitoring solutions to ensure the health and
security of the overall network.
- Provide technical oversight of the creation and maintenance of
all networking configurations and data files.
- Provide day-to-day communication/network security operation and
maintenance of multiple secure network infrastructures.
- Troubleshoot, develop, and design network architectures
consisting of multilevel access and multilevel security platforms
supporting sites nationwide.
- Configure, install, and troubleshoot Cisco routers, switches,
VOIP systems, video teleconferencing, and various other network and
telecommunication components.
- Analyze and determine corrective action for secure data
communications networks.
- Evaluate and report on new/emerging network/communication
technologies to enhance capacity, performance, and reliability of
the network.
- Assist with development and execution of test plans and
supporting documentation of all communications security
configuration upgrades, additions, or revisions for customer
approval before implementation.
- Develop, maintain, and analyze network architecture
designs.
- Monitor key system metrics to identify trends and
analysis.
- Ensure that the solutions are fully documented and in
compliance with applicable security requirements for the
classification level of the system.
- Other duties as assigned. Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree. Can be substituted for Associate's degree
with 2+ years of relevant experience or 4 years relevant
experience. Experience
- Experience as a network engineer, including network
installation, configuration or monitoring and assessment for
enterprise or mission critical environments.
- Demonstrated experience working with configuration of routers,
firewalls, mail servers, and VPN Virtual Private Network
appliances.
- Expertise in routing protocols, TCP/IP protocols, security
requirements and network communications.
- SD-WAN experience.
- Expertise in with network monitoring and reporting tools and
technology.
- Expertise in Tier III support.
- Familiarity with applicable DISA, IC, and coalition security
requirements documents such as STIGS.
- Expertise with CISCO Routers, Switches, WAN Protocols (EIGRP),
QOS, LAN and Data Center Protocols (Spanning Tree, Fabric-enabled
technologies, VoIP to support Data, Voice and Video).
- Familiarity with CISCO ASA appliances.
- Experience working helpdesk functions.
- Experience with technical writing IE: SOPs, technical
proposals, etc.
- Experience with Visio. Certifications
- DoD IAT Level II Certification is required.
- CCNA Certification. Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree. Can be substituted for Associate's degree
with 2+ years of relevant experience or 4 years relevant
experience.
- Two years relevant experience
- Candidate must have a DoD Secret Clearance. Top Secret w/ SCI
eligibility preferred.
