conferences/courses).PurposeThe Data ETL Engineer for the UT Data
Hub improves university outcomes and advances the UT mission to
transform lives for the benefit of society by increasing the
usability and value of institutional data.The Data ETL Engineer
develops extract, transform, and load (ETL) procedures using
integration tools such as Informatica for complex data models that
reflect academic and administrative business processes at the
University of Texas at Austin. The Data ETL Engineer plays a
critical part in establishing a valuable cloud data ecosystem
warehouse that supports critical business decisions and data
analysis processes for the campus community. The Data ETL Engineer
leverages their creativity to solve complex data and business
problems and builds effective relationships through open
communication.ResponsibilitiesDevelopment & Design:
- Develop ETL programs for complex dimensional data models within
modern data platforms such as AWS Aurora Postgres, Snowflake,
etc.
- Interpret and devise data mapping documents
- Design and automate ETL solutions for data cleansing,
preparation, data validation and related processesAdaptation &
Maintenance:
- Adapt ETL programs to evolving data models and business
needs
- Adapt ETL programs in response to data quality assurance
findingsCommunication & Collaboration:
- Partner with key stakeholders including enterprise data
architect, subject matter experts (SMEs), data modelers, and
teammates
- Guide complex technical projects, enabling effective
communication and collaboration with project stakeholdersOther
duties as assigned.Required Qualifications
- BS degree in Computer Science, Information Systems,
Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
- 2 years of experience designing and implementing ETL technical
solutions for complex data models using multiple data sources.
- 2 years of experience with Informatica, Python, SQL, and
PL/SQL.
- Demonstrated expert judgment in selecting methods, techniques,
and evaluation criteria for designing ETL solutions and optimizing
ETL performance.
- 2 years of experience with Oracle and AWS PostgreSQL database
environments including schema architecture, Strong communication
and collaboration skills and good documentation habits.
- Demonstrated experience with orchestration and automation of
database processes.
- Strong aptitude for troubleshooting and problem solving.
- Team player, comfortable communicating cross-functionally and
across management levels.
- Self-motivated and able to organize work independently in a
rapidly changing environment.
- Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may

- Graduate degree in computer Science or related field with five
years of professional experience as an ETL Developer utilizing
Informatica, IBM DataStage, SQL, PL/SQL, and Python.
- Three years of experience working in a cloud-based data
warehouse environment. Experience with multiple types of
databases.
- Experience with high availability database
implementations.
- Basic networking knowledge as it relates to database
systems.
- Informatica and AWS certifications.
- Strong knowledge of Quality Assurance processes, test case
development and execution.
- Knowledge of Agile software development methodologies (Kanban,
Scrum). Experience with issue tracking systems (JIRA).Salary
Range$110,000 - $125,000Working Conditions
- May work around standard office conditions

- Use of manual dexterity
- Up to 100% remote at employee discretion with office work
environment also an option. Majority of team is located in Austin,
TX, and working remotely with infrequent in-office
