Position Details:
Title: Electric Motor Mechanic
Location: San Antonio, TX
Shift: Monday - Friday - 6:00am - 4:30 - 6:00pm (depending on shop
needs)
Saturday 6:00am - 2:30pm
Compensation: $25 - $33/hour (depending on experience) +
overtime

Position Description - Electric Motor Mechanic
As an Electric Motor Mechanic, you will work to identify issues,
troubleshoot, and repair electric motors used in a variety of
electrical mechanical rotating equipment.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities Include:
--- Test electro-mechanical rotating equipment to troubleshoot
known or suspected problems using various testing methods (AC/DC).
Below are some examples.
o 3 phase motors
o DC motors
o Single phase motors
o Magnetic clutch units
o Gearboxes/Transmissions
o Generators and/or Alternators
o Compressors and Lobe Blowers
o Name brands examples
? Motors - ABB, Baldor/Reliance, Ideal, Louis Allis, Siemens,
US
? Generators - ABB, Siemens, EMD of GM, Vestas
? Gearboxes - Reliance, Cone Drive, Eurodrive
? Compressors - Sutor Built, Carrier, Trane
--- Disassemble equipment noting parts identification,
configuration and condition.
--- Ability to operate grinders, drills, cranes, forklift trucks,
torches, cut off saws etc.
--- Clean equipment assemblies as needed through various methods
and steps, including but not limited to parts washers, steam
cleaners and sand blasters.
--- Replace or repair worn or defective mechanical or electrical
parts and assemblies, included but limited to: Brushes, bearings,
brush holders, gears, seals, impellers, mechanical switches,
brakes, clutches, tachometers, fans, etc. as required per the ISS
technical traveler.
--- Test repaired apparatus for proper output and/or operation as
per ISS or customer specifications.
--- Operate specialized repair and testing equipment.
o Multi-Meter - Used for checking continuity , capacitor testing,
diode testing
o Megohm Meter - Used to test insulation resistance
o Surge Tester - Used to detect insulation breakdowns between
circuits.
o Hi-pot Tester - Used to detect amount of current leakage through
insulation
o Motor Test Panels - Testing apparatus at rated voltages for
proper operation before and after repair
--- Balance of various types of rotating equipment including but
not limited to fans, rotors, armatures, rolls, impellers, blowers,
etc.
o Using IRD and /or Dynamics balancing machines.
Requirements:
The ideal candidate possesses advanced electro-mechanical aptitude
with at least 2 years' experience dismantling electric motors to
inspect the rotating equipment that the motor uses to generate
power.
Additional Qualifications Include:
--- Ability to cut, strip, grind, bend wire leads, or solder at end
of coil.
--- Knowledge on how to examine and test rotating motor a plus.
--- Able to identify different types of AC/DC motors a plus.
--- Able to use overhead crane and drive forklift.
