Job Description Job Description JOB SUMMARY The Diesel Fleet
Mechanic I perform scheduled and unscheduled preventative
maintenance and lubrication on industrial equipment, trucks,
trailers, automobiles, facilities and any other assets belonging to
the company. This position will also handle minor repairs or
component replacement while performing quality inspections
following the assigned checklist and guidelines. CORE
RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Responsible for performing Preventive
Maintenance tasks to include greasing and changing oil 2. Tech will
be trained on vehicle components and learn out of service criteria
3. Tech will learn basic mechanical techniques, torques, and
procedures 4. Document repair operations and time tracking in
accordance with company procedures. 5. Complete minor repairs to
include but not limited to replacing light bulbs and mud flaps 6.
Assist in progressively more complex repairs to include but not
limited to replacement of brakes, hydraulic cylinders, starters,
alternators, etc 7. Work will be audited 8. Wear appropriate
personal protective equipment (PPE) when and where required. 9.
Report immediately any safety violations and correcting unsafe acts
or conditions. 10. Comply with company safety policies and with
applicable state and federal regulations. 11. May be required to
drive a vehicle with a gross vehicle weight (GVW) not to exceed
26,000 pounds. 12. Requisition parts as necessary. 13. Wash trucks
and equipment as needed and keep shop areas cleaned. 14. Attend all
training session as scheduled for continuing education. 15. Other
duties as assigned. REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS - Must possess
own basic tools or the ability to acquire tools upon hire -
Mechanical aptitude - Demonstrated aptitude for maintaining and
repairing equipment - Ability to read labels, safety warnings, and
guidelines - Ability to learn basic computer skills to communicate
document daily work and progress, track procurements and repair
status - Ability to pay attention to detail and remain alert to
ensure safety - Ability to understand and follow instructions and
to communicate with co-workers - Ability to function effectively in
a fast-paced environment PREFERRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS - High
school diploma or its equivalent - Preventive maintenance
background - Shop experience - Parts knowledge REQUIRED LICENSES &
CERTIFICATIONS - Valid Class C driver’s license - Record of safe
driving for the last three years
