Please note that this role is currently 100% remote through 2021, due to the pandemic. However, there is an option for this role to be remote or US office-based, based on the company policy and candidate fit. Position Summary Rackspace is a leading pure-play, multi-cloud solutions provider serving mid-market and major global enterprises. We are well-positioned for our next stage of growth by leveraging strategic partnerships, investments, and acquisitions. This role will partner with business and technical leaders internally to devise platform roadmaps, and identify new business opportunities for inorganic growth. The successful candidate will have in-depth banking/PE or corporate development experience in the technology industry with a preference of someone who has experience in the cloud or IT services business models--and leading at least 5-7 acquisitions. Prior experience in management consulting with a technical degree (e.g. Computer Science, EE) will be a big plus. Responsibilities

  • Evaluating and executing strategic opportunities for specific businesses including identifying and pursuing transformational M&A, partnerships, and alliances, and driving post-merger integration
  • Partnering with business units to develop the business case and own/drive the deal financial model
  • Proactively identifying and scenario-planning the implications of emerging market/geographic trends, competitor moves, disruptive technologies, and other innovative business model ideas to unlock value
  • Tracking Rackspace's overall portfolio of businesses and developing the future mission and strategy for the company
  • Working closely with the Executive Leadership Team and business leaders to explore new businesses and identify emerging opportunities to broaden and deepen the group's portfolio and create a competitive advantage.
  • Building and liaising with a strong network of internal and external experts, drawing on and leveraging business insights relevant to each situation and strategic priority. Qualifications
    • Undergraduate or graduate degree preferably in Computer Science or EE. An MBA is strongly preferred.
    • 8+ years relevant work experience in Investment Banking, Management Consulting, or Corporate Development, including at least 3 years directly working in Corporate Development leading at least 5-7 acquisitions for technology companies; public companies.
    • Cloud company, Services company experience a big plus.
    • Expert in executive communication, strategic thought leadership, and financial modeling (Powerpoint, Excel), including extensive experience in owning and driving deal models.
    • Domain experience and understanding of broader cloud and IT services business models and market opportunities
    • Substantial experience and skills in strategic and financial analysis, project management, and communication - Must be able to interact in a manner that gains trust and negotiate mutually beneficial business objectives with potential targets and within the organization.
    • Extensive experience working with matrix organizations and managing cross-functional projects, and ability build rapport with diverse stakeholders.
    • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and deal with ambiguity.
    • Have a strong network of founders, investors, bankers, ecosystem partners.
