The Opportunity
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
Functions as a mid to senior level Process Lead for Organics
Management in both Government and Industrial Process Groups
Support projects forAnaerobic Digestion, Fermentation,
Gasification, Pyrolysis, Gas Utilization, Aerobic
Digestion/Composting, or Alternative Protein and Fertilizer
Production
Your role would include diverse opportunities in the organics
management and circular economy space

are critical to winning work and drive design deliverables for
critical infrastructure projects with community benefits. Our Team
of over 200 process engineers support water, industrial, next
generation agriculture, LNG, hydrogen, fertilizer, and carbon
capture businesses among others. We have transformed our team to
align with megatrends associated with water scarcity, limited
resources, alternative fuels, and energy sustainability. Our

Key Responsibilities
Engineering Production:
Process engineer and specialist to lead and support a wide variety
of organics management activities across several business sectors:
municipal organics management, agriculture and industrial organics
management, generation of biofuel and management.
Lead and support implementation of solutions through the project
life cycle: feasibility, front-end loading (FEL) project planning
stages, front end engineering design (FEED) studies, detailed
design, engineering, procurement support and construction
management (EpCM), engineering, procurement and construction (EPC),
and commissioning.
Consult and assist Project manager with design modifications during
construction.
Resolve project technical issues with internal team,
subcontractors, vendors, main contractors and/or related third
parties.
Follow and make sure B&V quality standards and contractual
requirement are met.
Ensure environmental, safety and health practices are carried out
at all times.
Support independent engineer activities and provide expertise in
preparing due diligence reports.
Be a thought leader in organics management and circular economy
(anaerobic and aerobic processes, and digester gas/biogas/landfill
gas unitization especially gas conditioning and upgrading to RNG,
both internal and external to Black & Veatch. Actively foster
knowledge management and mentoring.
Develop and apply organics management concepts and approaches to
unique engineering problems. Oversee collection, assimilation, and
management of engineering work. Manage assigned budget, schedule,
and quality requirements.
Client Focus:
Actively seeks to understand client interests and drivers through
normal client contact and through interaction and communication
with project leadership
Support business development and project pursuit activities.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree a plus.
8+ Years Experience in organics management via anaerobic and
aerobic digestion/composting processes and system designs.
3+ Years Experience in digester gas/biogas/landfill gas utilization
via upgrading to biomethane and renewable compressed natural
gas.
Knowledge of engineering design principles and applicable design
guides and standards related to assigned engineering
discipline.
Positive, team-first attitude; entrepreneurial mindset a plus.
Demonstrated ability to evaluate technologies and processes both
technically and economically.
Experience directly engaging clients on technical matters including
conferences and workshops.

Minimum Qualifications
Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering from either a
recognized accredited program in their home country or the country
in which the professional is practicing. Minimum of 8 years related
work experience. All applicants must be able to complete
pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may
include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check,
drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with
any applicable laws and regulations.
Certifications
Preferred to have Professional Engineer registration or licensure,
or willingness/ability to pursue such registration.
Work Environment/Physical Demands
Typical office environment, typical construction environment,
extreme weather conditions, high noise level, safety hazards
(electric currents, working on scaffolding and high places,
exposure to chemicals), atmospheric conditions (fumes, odors,
dusts, mists, gases, poor ventilation). Sitting, walking, talking,
hearing, reading, writing, keyboarding, driving, filing, reaching,
stooping, crouching, bending, standing for extended periods of
time, lifting or carrying up to 40 pounds.
