Job Description:

POSITION DEFINITION:Under supervision by the CSO/Director of Research, the Assistant Director oversees all aspects the XenoSTART Development Program from clinical sample acquisition through model maturity including, but not limited to, sample and model designations and development paradigms, model data and characterization acquisition and assignment, and external collaborations. This position also serves as a scientific liaison and advisor for internal and external groups as needed for development and operations functions. This position is responsible for training and direction of reports including encouraging professional growth through use of performance evaluations and mentoring and will maintain all related training documentation, as well as up-to-date records and perform other tasks as needed. This position also works collaboratively with the Director of Research to ensure successful implementation and compliance with internal Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and external standards.Tasks and Responsibilities:

• Oversees all model development program functions, including but not limited to, sample and model designations and development paradigms, model data and characterization acquisition and assignment, and external collaborations.
• Oversees expansion of internal laboratory services including but limited to assays for sample and model characterization, cell line generation and model rescue.
• Develops and implements processes to improve model take rate, growth speed, and utility.
• Serves as a scientific liaison and advisor for internal and external groups as needed for development and operations functions.
• Manages pharmacy and laboratory staff and processes, ensuring timeliness and accuracy of all core functions. Participates in staff professional growth through use of performance evaluations and mentoring.
• Maintains all necessary technical certifications by completing all competence/skill assessment testing and attending relevant continuing education programs. Participates in staff professional growth through use of performance evaluations and mentoring.
• Assists in implementation and adoption of electronic data management system.
• Attends regular meetings and briefings regarding research as required.Performs other duties as as assigned.Background REQUIREMENTS:
  • PhD in natural sciences and of five years experience in academic and industry setting required.
  • Understanding of pharmacology principles and oncology drug development programs in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Must be familiar with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Good record keeping and ability to work in a fast-paced team environment a must.
  • Must accurately spell and type information onto manual and computer records.
