Description:SUMMARY Under the supervision of the Assistant Vice President of Programs and Services, the Executive Director carries out day-to-day activities as they relate to the recruitment and retention of international HACU member institutions and affiliates; the coordination of internationally focused conferences and events; and the development and maintenance of global partnerships and new international programming and services consistent with established goals, objectives, scope, budget and policies. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) required, Master's or Ph.D. degree preferred.
  • A minimum of four to five years of related experience and/or training and strong planning, project management and administrative skills.
  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, email, the internet and AI tools.
  • Must be organized and able to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment handling multiple projects with competing deadlines.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills required, in both English and Spanish. Must be fully bilingual.
  • Demonstrated organizational and planning skills with the flexibility to handle changing project priorities.
  • Working knowledge of departmental programs and objectives, rules, regulations, policies and procedures applicable to assigned role and department.
  • Strong computer capabilities and related information systems, and ability to use those systems.

    • Works collaboratively and strategically in a team environment with all levels of professional, technical, and administrative staff to ensure the fulfillment of HACU's mission, goals, and objectives.
    • Develops, implements and maintains international membership recruitment and retention program.
    • Analyzes, assesses and reports on membership growth and retention, and identifies potential international member institutions.
    • Communicates the full range of membership benefits to international member prospects and others in person, over the telephone, in writing, or electronically.
    • Serves as advocate for issues of concern or interest to international members, and as liaison between international members and HACU staff.
    • Develops and implements tools to measure international member satisfaction.
    • Plans, coordinates and executes HACU's biennial international conferences. Develops content for plenaries, workshops and other sessions. Works with conference on logistics and cultural events.
    • Develops and coordinates all international sessions during the annual conference, including the International Plenary, International networking Session, International Member Breakfast and International Track workshops, among others.
    • Prepares and reviews regular communications to international members.
    • Maintains international membership and other pertinent databases with up-to-date information & ensures integrity of data.
    • Will evaluate current international member benefits and recruitment strategies and propose innovative ways to generate new international members and additional benefits to current international members.
    • Serves as the lead person for the planning, coordination, and execution of the virtual and/or in-person international HACU on the Road recruiting events.
    • Creates and promotes faculty and student exchanges, dual degree programs, and joint research projects among HACU national and international member institutions.
    • Develops and implements new international programs that serve and engage both national and international members.
    • Works to identify, apply and secure federal, private, and foundation grants to support HACU's national and international member collaboration.
    • Prepares department reports and draft budgets as necessary. Monitors approved budgets.
    • Maintains liaison with international colleges and universities to collect unpaid dues. Directs collection to assure due diligence and documentation in a professional manner.
    • Participates, as approved, in international related committees within or beyond HACU, including professional organizations.
    • Will help develop and maintain databases and projects such as the Faculty Exchange database and will coordinate the webinar series.
    • Ability to interact with senior staff at national and international member institutions is required. Must be able to travel nationally and internationally and to work without close supervision on difficult and complex tasks.
    • Ability to conceptualize position role as one key step in delivery of a total department program.
    • Other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor and President & CEO.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESDirectly supervises a full-time International Affairs Coordinator. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.       • Employee will work a standard of 40 hours a week; however, longer hours may be necessary at times.
      • Working conditions are in an office environment with sitting or standing, computer data entry, answering phones.
      • Conferences and events may take place in hotel and/or convention center settings and require longer hours of work on a constantly changing schedule, including work on weekends and evenings.
      • Occasionally moves items weighing up to 10 pounds, and occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds.
      • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision.
      • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery.
      • Positions self to perform essential functions of the job in an office setting on-site.
      • Must be able to remain in a stationary position.
      • Maintains and ensures the security of HACU-issued equipment, software, data, and supplies.
      • Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
