our students.The Assistant Director for Hazing Prevention and
Organizational Safety in the Office of the Dean of Students plays a
critical leadership role in advancing student organization safety
and development at The University of Texas at Austin. This position
leads institution-wide hazing prevention efforts and provides
strategic oversight of the required safety education program for
student organizations. The Assistant Director is responsible for
supervising staff, implementing evidence-informed educational
programs, and evaluating initiatives that support student
well-being and organizational accountability. In collaboration with
student leaders, campus partners, and university stakeholders, this
role fosters a proactive approach to risk management while
promoting the growth and success of registered and sponsored
student organizations.Responsibilities:Hazing Prevention
Leadership
- Lead the university's hazing prevention efforts, including
strategic planning, programming, stakeholder engagement, and
student advisory council facilitation. Co-Chair the Hazing
Prevention and Education Committee, manage related resources
including the hazing.utexas.edu website, and collaborate with
partners to develop educational content and outreach
strategies.Organizational Risk and Safety Training
- Oversee the university's peer-led safety education program for
student organizations. Provide content development, administrative
oversight, and evaluation of safety and risk management
workshops.Collaboration and Training:
- Serve as a subject matter expert on hazing prevention and
student organization risk management. Provide trainings,
consultations, and resource development in collaboration with
student groups and campus and community partners.Supervision &
Support:
- Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate paraprofessional, and
student staff, including direct supervision of 1 graduate assistant
and the supervision of theundergraduate peer educator team.Support
for Student Organization Development
- Assist in the administration and facilitation of the Successful
Student Organization Program (SSOP), offering organizational
coaching, supporting curriculum delivery, and contributing to
program planning and execution.Committee & Campus Involvement:
- Assist in special assignments and committees on behalf of
Organizational Development and Risk Reduction with the Office of
the Dean of Students, Division of Student Affairs, or other campus
partners as requested. Other related functions as assigned.Required
Qualification:Bachelor's degree and two years of experience
developing, administering, and implementing programs for college
students. Experience advising student organizations with risk
management and safety education programming, including hazing
prevention. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with
students, faculty, administration, and external stakeholders.
Possess effective facilitation skills, strong attention to detail,
and have success managing concurrent tasks. Professional demeanor.
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
including presentations, written correspondence, and reports.
Attention to detail. Equivalent combination of relevant education
and experience may be substituted as appropriate.Preferred
Qualifications:Preference will be given to candidates with a
graduate degree in student affairs administration or related field.
At least two years of professional experience working with student
groups to provide advising, program planning, interpretation of
institutional policies, risk management and leadership development
opportunities. Experience advising sorority and fraternity life
organizations or other high-risk student groups. Knowledge of
student development theory and experience with student affairs
assessment or program evaluation. Demonstrated strategic and
innovative approaches to problem solving. Experience supervising
professional and para-professional staff. Experience building
partnerships and collaborating across departments in a
post-secondary institution.Demonstrated, end-to-end project/program
management experience. Curriculum development and implementation
experience.Salary Range:$70,000Working Conditions
- Work in a busy, high student traffic environment with frequent
interruptions.
