What the Clinical Laboratory Supervisor does Under the general
direction of the Senior Clinical Laboratory Manager, the Clinical
Laboratory Supervisor is responsible for providing technical and
scientific guidance and support to Clinical Laboratory Staff,
maintain adequate inventory, and managing direct reports. What you
will do Ensure appropriate test method selection. Perform quality
control for adequate method verification to determine the accuracy
and precision of the test and each test system. Review Proficiency
Testing results and implements appropriate corrective actions if
results are found to be unacceptable or unsatisfactory. Establish
and maintain Quality Assessment and Quality Control programs.
Resolve technical problems and ensure any necessary remedial
actions are taken when necessary. Ensure personnel have been
appropriately trained and demonstrate competency prior to testing
specimens. Conduct remedial training when necessary. Evaluate and
document performance of individuals responsible for testing or with
the introduction of a new test methodology or instrumentation at
six months and twelve months in the first year of employment and
yearly thereafter. Provide support for review of general laboratory
documents to meet compliance with regulatory requirements. Oversee
that quality and technical records are maintained and archived to
meet regulatory requirements. Appropriately escalate identified
issues adversely or potentially impacting quality, compliance or
safety and make recommendations for appropriate corrective actions.
Lead/support continuous improvement activities and conducts
internal training on Quality standards and regulations. Manage
assigned staff work, reviews schedule, approves time off and
ensures lab coverage in the event of an unexpected staff absence.
What you will bring to the role Knowledge regarding quality
programs including quality improvement and assurance in a
laboratory/health care setting. Proficient in computer skills and
analytical instruments. Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite
(Word, Excel, and PowerPoint & Outlook). Comprehensive knowledge of
clinical laboratory standard practices and procedures, including
handling of potentially infectious material. Comprehensive
knowledge of CLIA regulations. Ability to perform problem
resolution and closure utilizing root cause analysis tools. Strong
analytical problem-solving skills and the ability to follow
complicated instructions accurately. Excellent organizational
skills. Good customer service skills and be able to perform duties
at a fast pace without errors. Organized and have good attention to
detail. Knowledge and skills in performing technical procedures.
Ability to operate, perform required maintenance, and troubleshoot
standard clinical laboratory instrumentation. Your experience
Bachelor of Science Degree in Clinical/Medical Laboratory Science.
Minimum 4-5 years previous clinical laboratory experience as a
generalist. Current national certification by one of the following:
American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or American
Medical Technologists (AMT) preferred. Preferred: Clinical
Laboratory Quality Assurance experience preferred. Two or more
years of recent experience in a clinical laboratory in chemistry,
hematology, and urinalysis. Recent experience as a generalist in a
clinical laboratory in chemistry, hematology, and urinalysis. Why
