level /n Job Summary /n The Ultrasound Technologist at the Maternal
Fetal Medicine (MFM) Clinic performs routine and complex OB/GYN
Sonographic Imaging. They work under the general supervision of a
Radiologist. They handle both ambulatory and hospitalized patients
in a Physician Office or Clinic Setting. This is specific to
Maternal Fetal Medicine as requested by a physician or other
licensed provider. They work under the general supervision of an
MFM Specialist Physician for assessing and diagnosing pregnancy
conditions. This follows established protocols. This position must
effectively explain procedures to patients. They ensure patients
are relaxed and at ease during the exam. They provide care while
obtaining diagnostic quality images for interpretation. /n
Essential Functions of the Role /n /n - Performs high-quality
ultrasound procedures according to exam protocol in a timely
manner. Maintains production and quality by following established
standards and procedures. /n - Utilizes AIDET to communicate with
patients. Identifies patient service needs. Ensures the correct
exam is performed on the correct patient. Establishes rapport with
patients and others. Instructs and communicates with patients and
their family about the test. Assesses the patient's ability to
tolerate the exam. /n - Prepare the patient and area for the
procedure. Position the patient, adjust immobilization devices, and
move equipment into position. Adjust equipment controls to set
exposure factors. /n - Protects patients and employees by following
safety, infection-control, drug, and radiation policies. Uses
proper sterile techniques for invasive procedures and maintains
hand hygiene. /n - Maintains equipment and work area to meet
quality and cleanliness standards. Works with engineers and
physicists to ensure optimal equipment operation. Reports issues to
management or the appropriate department. Assists in maintaining
supplies inventory. /n - Ensures people are safe to enter the
department by screening them according to approved policies and
procedures. /n - Obtain, verify, and maintain all relevant
documentation like requisition/chart, patient history, pregnancy
status, shielding precautions, consent forms, policies, and
procedures. /n - Maintains medical imaging records in appropriate
system and according to department policies and standards for
interpretation in a timely manner. /n /n Key Success Factors /n /n
- Able to perform high quality ultrasound procedures according to
exam protocol in a timely manner. /n - Able to explain the
procedure and put patients at ease. /n - Provide services quickly,
accurately, and cost-effectively, following System and regulatory
standards, policies, and procedures. /n - Able to perform tasks
exclusively without need for routine oversight. /n - Able to stay
calm and helpful during stress and take reasonable steps to resolve
issues. /n - Able to effectively administer first aid and use
emergency cart. /n - Ensure customer satisfaction by limiting wait
times and providing courteous service. Remain professional, review
patient satisfaction scores, and develop action plans when needed.
/n - Demonstrates and maintains current knowledge, education, and
skills for caring for newborns, pediatric, young adults, adults,
and geriatric patients. /n - Able to serve as preceptor by
providing quality training to new team members and on new services
and initiatives. /n - Able to take call, if required. /n /n

- Grad of an Accredited Program - EXPERIENCE - Less than 1 Year of
Experience CERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION - ARRT-S Sonography
(ARRT-S), Reg Diag Med Sono-Abdomen (AB) (RDMS-AB), Reg Diag Med
Sono-OB/GYN (OB) (RDMS-OB): Certified by the American Registry of
Diagnostic Medical Sonographers ARDMS (OB/GYN) or (AB) or the
American Registry of Radiologic Technologists ARRT (S). - Fetal
Echocardiography (FE), Fetal Nuchal Translucency (NT): Fetal
Echocardiography (FE) or Nuchal Translucency (NT) within 1 year of
hire.
