Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 1
year in related nursing specialty preferred License: RN License in
state of employment or compact Certifications: BLS required (AHA
only), Current STABLE certification, Current NRP certification
Must-Have: Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred
Description: The competent Nurse practices independently in a
clinical setting. Demonstrates awareness of all relevant aspects of
a situation. Provides routine and complex care and has the ability
to focus on long-range goals or plans. Continues to develop the
ability to manage contingencies of clinical nursing. Makes
appropriate assignments and delegates to other care providers.
Meets expectations of applicable competencies: Leader of Self,
Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders. Consistent with the ANA
Scope and Standards of Practice, provides nursing care utilizing
the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention,
and evaluation for assigned patients. Addresses complex
psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients
and families according to their level of practice. Administers
medications and treatments using appropriate protocols. Monitors
for side effects and effectiveness of the treatment prescribed.
Documents patient history, symptoms, medication, and care given.
Assesses learning needs and provides education to patients, family
members, and/or caregivers. Identifies issues and resources. All
newly hired experienced RNs must attend New Nurses Orientation
within the first month of hire. New hires are precepted by a
designated trained staff member. Initial onboarding requirements
are validated through successful completion of organizational entry
competency validation. Completion of all annual competency
verification requirements is necessary. Experience in a Perinatal
Setting is preferred.
