Job Description /n /n POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES /nThe
Inpatient Clinical Staff Pharmacist II oversees and directly
contributes to compounding, preparation, and dispensing of
medications for neonatal through adult patients in accordance with
all regulatory agencies, including but not limited to The Joint
Commission (TJC), Occupational Safety and Health Administration
(OSHA), Medicare/Medicaid standards and Texas State Board of
Pharmacy Rules and Regulations. Activities include medication order
review and verification, clarification of medication orders with
providers and nurses when appropriate, participation in
programmatic departmental operational and clinical initiatives,
participation in medical emergencies, accurate and informed use of
department technology and drug information resources, checking
accuracy of sterile and non-sterile products and labels prior to
dispensing, and supervising the activity of pharmacy technicians.
The Inpatient Clinical Staff Pharmacist II demonstrates an advanced
level of competency related to inpatient operations and will serve
as a mentor and role model for Inpatient Clinical Staff Pharmacists
I in developing excellence in operational skills and for achieving
departmental goals. /n/n EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE /nA Pharm.D. degree
or a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from an ACPE-accredited School
of Pharmacy is required. Completion of an ASHP-accredited
Postgraduate Year Two (PGY2) Pharmacy Residency or equivalent
experience (PGY1 plus 1 additional year of experience; or 4 years
of experience in health-system pharmacy) is required. /n/n
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION /nCurrent Pharmacy and Pharmacy Preceptor
licensure, or eligibility for licensure, in the state of Texas is
required. Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and/or
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification, as appropriate
to area of practice, is required. Certification by the Board of
Pharmacy Specialties in Sterile Compounding, Pharmacotherapy, or
other specialty as appropriate is required. /n /n
