Job Description:

*Job Title: Cook**Location: Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC)*Southern Foodservice Management Inc., a national contract food service company, is now hiring for a *Cook (Rotating shifts) *at BAMC, potential applicants are highly encouraged to research our location before applying to ensure it is an acceptable commute, as availability and flexibility will be a major consideration when selecting candidates. Scheduled shifts could include nights, weekends, and holidays Candidates should have knowledge of food sanitation, be able to follow recipes, have a professional appearance, dependable transportation, teachable attitude, and a strong work ethic. *Being a Veteran/Military Experience Preferred.**Pay includes a base rate of $16.25 an hour plus a Health and Welfare cash payment of $4.23 an hour paid for each hour up to 40 hours in a week, combined this comes to $20.48 an hour for regularly scheduled hours (Overtime, if scheduled, is paid at 1.5X the base rate only. So, hours worked over 40 is paid at $24.38).**Job Description:** Prepares and cooks a variety of menu items, including regular and therapeutic diet entrees.* Maintain clean, safe work environment and food safety at all times.* Read and adjust standardized recipes as instructed.* Prepare and serve food to recipe specifications in a timely manner with high level of productivity.* Cook food to proper temperatures and maintain proper food temperatures during holding, transport, re-heating and serving to assure quality control and food safety.* Operate various mixers, steamers, steam kettles, ovens and other electrical and/or mechanical equipment in accordance with safety regulations and established policies.* Ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining focus on quality* Adhere to all cleaning and production schedules and perform tasks as assigned.* All positions require willingness to perform tasks outside of normal responsibilities as needed.* Serve food on serving lines during mealtimes.* Clean kitchen equipment, pots, pans, counters, and tables.* Sweep and mop floors.* Clean and straighten work area.* May be assigned other tasks to Support Meal Production, Service, and Breakdown or over all Cleanliness of the Cafeteria.*Qualifications:** U.S. citizenship.* Military Veteran or Experience preferred.* Speak English clearly.* ServSafe or other food safety certification preferred.* Must be able to pass extensive background check and drug tests.* Two years cooking experience preferred.* Immunizations (Hep A x2 Hep Bx3 MMRS Varicella Flu yearly TB Test x2 TDAP current 10years Covid Vaccine currently optional.)* Must be flexible to work morning, mid-morning, overnight and weekends as needed.* Dedication to on-time on arrival for shifts.* Able to work as part of a team in a busy kitchen atmosphere.* Comply with company safety standards and dress code always.* Must lift up to 40 pounds* Positive, helpful attitude toward customers and peers.* Must be able to pass drug screening.* Must have a clean criminal background.* Must have his/her own vehicle with current auto insurance.* Temperature Variation: Frequent*Benefits:** Weekly Pay* Health Insurance* Vision Insurance* Dental Insurance* Paid Time Off* Voluntary Life Insurance* Universal Life Insurance* Short Term Disability Insurance* Long Term Disability Insurance* 401(k)* Credit Union Membership*Physical Requirements:** Strength: Standing 40%, walking 60%* Movement of Objects: Light Lifting, Light Carrying Light Pushing, Light Pulling* Climbing or Balancing: Occasional* Stooping: Occasional* Reaching: Frequent* Handling: Frequent* Talking/Hearing: Frequent* Seeing: Frequent* Temperature Variation: FrequentDISCLAIMER: The information contained herein is not intended to be an all-inclusive list of the duties and responsibilities of the job, nor are they intended to be an all-inclusive list of the skills and abilities required to do the job.
