Adaptive Sports Program (ASP)/ Logistics SpecialistThe Air Force
Wounded Warrior (AFW2) Program works with the Air Force Survivor
Assistance Program, Airman & Family Readiness Centers, and the Air
Force Medical Service to provide concentrated non-medical care and
support for combat wounded, ill and injured Airmen (and their
families) as they recover and transition back to duty or into
civilian life. -Adaptive Sports Program (ASP) SpecialistThe
Adaptive Sports Program connects recovering Airmen to introductory,
recreation, and competitive adaptive sports opportunities to
enhance their recovery and overall quality of life, regardless of
visible or invisible wounds. - Each sport offers a world class
coaching staff, adaptable equipment, virtual training, nutrition
plans and active links that connect Airmen to community-based
sports programs. - After attending an adaptive sports training
event (virtually or in-person), recovering Airmen are offered
participation in Developmental Tracks to support newfound sports
skills and to prepare Airmen interested in competing at the DoD
Warrior Games or Invictus Games.Job Duties:
- Responsible for -adaptive sports equipment viability, storage,
repairs, and transport -to its -destination
- Assist in providing successful adapted sports and
reconditioning programs for Recovering Service Members (RSM).
- Required to drive rental vehicles transporting Airmen to
events.
- Be prepared to work long hours and conduct events in a
multi-sport environment to support this mission.
- Experience in serving wounded warriors, and skilled in
supporting individualized reconditioning plans for Wounded Warriors
participating in the development tracks of ASP.
- Assist in identifying activities in the communities for the
Wounded Warrior and coordinate/connect them to the appropriate
agencies to gain personal adaptive sports equipment.
- Assist in coordinating adapted sports opportunities with local
community organizations.
- Identifies community resources to provide support and enhance
the program.
- Promotes and supports Airmen with information about monthly
activities in their local communities.Position requires up to 50%
local and national travel to support the AFW2 mission.Required
Skills/Qualifications
- Competence with database management and other administrative
skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft office products.
- Ability to work at the Headquarters Program level.
- Ability to manage multiple activity schedules
simultaneously.
- Ability to communicate effectively with Recovering Service
Members and make the appropriate registrations and travel
arrangements for their participation in all events.
- Demonstrated quality communication (written and oral) and
interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.Proven
capability to lead within a complex system involving individuals
with diverse levels of experience, skills, and abilities.You must
be legally authorized to work in the United States. Must be able to
pass a background checkRequired Education Level:
- Relevant degree in recreational therapy, sports management,
exercise science, physical education and management, athletic
training.OR
Minimum of three years of real work
experience in adaptive sports.Physical Requirements:The physical
