Role:The Senior CORE Systems Developer is a highly skilled and
experienced professional responsible for designing, developing,
implementing, and supporting software applications within the
organization. They possess a deep understanding of the software
development life cycle (SDLC) and leverage their coding expertise
to deliver robust and optimized solutions. A key focus of this role
is to continuously enhance the performance, efficiency, and user
accessibility of the CORE system, ensuring seamless operations and
a positive end-user experience. The role requires strong analytical
skills, problem-solving capabilities, and the ability to
collaborate effectively with various teams to ensure successful
project execution. The role requires critical thinking and
troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve complex issues,
ensuring the stability and reliability of the organization's core
systems and digital channels. Work Location: This is an onsite
position. Occasional remote work may be available for select
positions and is subject to prior approval by management. What you
will be doing:Core System Development
- Design, develop, and maintain custom programs to extend the
functionality of the core system, third party applications, and
Business Intelligence tools.
- Analyze business processes and identify opportunities for
efficiency and productivity improvements through software
solutions.
- Collaborate with staff to coordinate core system changes and
batch job scheduling.
- Proactively monitor and analyze the CORE system's performance,
identifying and addressing bottlenecks or areas for
optimization.
- Implement solutions to enhance the system's efficiency,
scalability, and responsiveness.
- Collaborate with end-users to gather feedback and understand
their needs, ensuring the CORE system is intuitive and
user-friendly.
- Participate in the testing and analysis of new releases,
enhancements, and updates to the core system.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex application program
errors.
- Mentor and train lower-level developers.Non-Core System
Development
- Serve as the CORE administrator, providing technical guidance
and support to departmental administrators.
- Participate in the evaluation and management of Content
Management Systems.
- Develop SQL queries, views, and data structures to support
Business Intelligence needs.
- Support the enhancement and maintenance of Online Banking and
Mobile solutions.General Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Manager of Digital & CORE Integrations to
ensure the timely and successful completion of assigned tasks.
- Adhere to established processes and procedures, including
organizational policies.
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of all phases of the
SDLC.
- Work effectively with customers to gather and translate
requirements into system specifications.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest technologies and industry
trends.
- Protect confidential member information.
- Continuously learn and adapt to new technologies, tools, and
industry best practices.Leadership:
- Project Ownership: Lead the development process for assigned
projects, including planning, execution, and delivery.
- Technical Leadership: Mentor junior developers, provide
guidance, and foster a collaborative development environment.
- Communication: Effectively communicate technical concepts to
both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Documentation: Write clear and concise technical documentation
for code, processes, and procedures.
- Quality Assurance: Implement and oversee testing processes to
ensure the quality, reliability, and functionality of developed
solutions.Credit Union Specific:
- Understanding Credit Union Operations: Possess a basic
understanding of credit union operations and how technology
supports member needs.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure developed solutions comply with
relevant financial regulations and industry standards. What you'll
bring along:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field, or
equivalent experience in software development.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in:
- Programming and designing applications, interfaces, and
databases.
- Coding and testing applications to ensure functionality and
quality.
- Experience with:
- Symitar Power On and other products
- SQL Server database management.
- Database design and relational database concepts.
- Preferred:
- Experience in integrating software
- Web development technologies (HTML, XML, FTP).
- Programming languages (C#, Java, JavaScript).
- Experience with mobile development (iPhone/Android) is a
plus
- Proven track record of delivering projects on time and within
budget.
- Experience in technical planning and project
management.Knowledge and Skills:
- Must have thorough knowledge of the Credit Union policies and
procedures, products and services.
- Must have excellent interpersonal, organizational, and
telephone etiquette skills.
- Must have strong workflow and communication skills (both
written and oral).
- Must have a thorough knowledge of the principles, practices and
procedures used in computer programming,
- Knowledge of Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC):
Requirements, Business Design, Technical Design, Coding, Testing,
and Implementation
- Must be able to work under limited supervision and exercise
sound judgment.
