The Dental Hygiene Program Director manages the students,
instructors, facilities and overall academic quality and integrity
of the Dental Hygiene department. The Program Director is
responsible for all program outcomes: completion, pass rates and
placement. The Program Director is responsible for implementation
of all accreditation commission standards and agency regulations as
well as the oversight of internal and catalog policy.
Provides input into the student selection process and

into faculty evaluation; initiation of program or department
in-service and faculty development; assessing, planning and
operating program facilities; input into budget preparation and
fiscal administration; coordination, evaluation and participation
in determining admission criteria and procedures as well as student
promotion and retention criteria.
Must be a dental hygienist who is a graduate of a program
accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation and possesses
a masters or higher degree or a dentist who has background in
education and the professional experience necessary to understand
and fulfill the program goals.
Minimum of two years teaching experience for California
positions (other states may be less)
Current CPR certification issued by the American Heart
Association (required within 30 days of employment)
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Knowledge and ability to judge instructors’ competence and
Bachelor’s degree in Dental Hygiene preferred
