Summary:

Under the general direction of the Vice President of Programs of Catholic Charities Archdiocese of San Antonio and the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) program policy guidelines, The RSVP Program Director is responsible for all oversight and compliance of the Retired Senior Volunteer Program and Adopt a Senior Program. The director selects, trains, and supervises staff, and works cooperatively within agency, Advisory Board members, volunteer station staff, and officials of the Corporation for National and Community Service to plan and implement programming. The director is responsible for the program’s compliance, performance, and ensuring quality services. The director will oversee program operations, database management, recordkeeping, accounting software transactions, policy/procedure, and other reporting outcomes. This includes strict compliance to federal grant award guidelines and ensuring program is in compliance with all aspects of the 2 CFR 200 grant award CFDA number 94.002. The director is also responsible for assisting with the annual Senior Fiesta event.

Position Responsibilities:

Plan and develop all phases of RSVP operations to include volunteer recruitment, volunteer eligibility, volunteer placement, and volunteer outcome measurements;

Assist with hiring, training, and supervising of staff and senior volunteers to efficiently carry out and maintain operations of the program;

Supervise and manage staff to outline work plans, volunteer duties, and files in compliance with program activities;

Adhere to and administer personnel policies and procedures for staff consistent with those of Catholic Charities;

Provide planning, support, budgetary information and program materials for coordinators according to Catholic Charities personnel policies and procedures;

Work with program accountant and CFO to ensure financial records are in compliance with federal grant standards related to the 2 CFR 200 CFDA number 94.002;

Recruit, select, orient and place quality volunteers with volunteer stations;

Develop, maintain, and approve appropriate fiscal, personnel, program and volunteer records or reports for agency and funding source;

Enhance the total efforts of RSVP and Adopt a Senior Programs through active involvement with Catholic Charities community initiatives, CNCS national service programs and where appropriate;

Implement and assess performance measures and other grant outcomes;

Work in cooperation with Catholic Charities Senior Services advisory board members and volunteers to obtain additional resources for the program;

Plan, develop, and implement ongoing public relation opportunities, including social media in cooperation with Catholic Charities and CNCS;

Arrange for formal and regular recognition of volunteers, organizations, and individuals who have contributed to the support of RSVP and Adopt a Senior;

Assure volunteer orientation, in conjunction with volunteer work stations and staff;

In conjunction with staff, develop and maintain close coordination and relationships with volunteer stations, including development of volunteer assignment plans;

Provide ongoing support to volunteers;

In conjunction with staff, appraise volunteer performance;

Assess appropriateness and/or performance of volunteer stations;

Attend training conferences conducted or authorized by the CNCS.

Conduct outreach to grow program visibility and partnerships

Prepare newsletters and media materials, and host volunteer recognition events in coordination with Mission Advancement for all program activities.

Assist with planning and execution of Senior Fiesta event;

Maintain professional knowledge and skills by attending relevant workshops, training, and conferences.

Develop and coordinate RSVP’s Del Rio site.

Negotiate, review and update Memorandum of Understanding with volunteer stations to establish guidelines for volunteer placements.

Adhering to safety training and protocols on a daily basis, and taking precautionary measure to ensure the safety and well-being of self, others.

Responsible for protecting the confidentiality of any information or material obtained in the service with the organization to include but not limited to client names and information, services rendered to clients, donors names and gifts, internal and external investigations or results of any investigations, and financial information.

Adherence to the Code of Conduct and the Faith and Moral is mandatory.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education Bachelor’s degree in management/social work or related field

Experience Minimum of 3 years’ experience in nonprofit/business setting working with volunteers and least 1 year of experience in program management.

Experience managing a state or federal grant preferred

License and Credentials Reliable transportation

Valid driver license

Valid vehicle insurance

Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred

Minimum Knowledge and Skills:

Minimum of 3 years’ experience in nonprofit/business setting working with volunteers and at least 1 year experience in program management.

Knowledge of working with those over 55 years of age and volunteers preferred.

Extensive working knowledge of interpersonal and communication skills.

Experience with computer software including Microsoft suite, accounting software, email and internet.

Strong community outreach skills.

Experience managing federal grants preferred.

Must be detail oriented, organized, self-motivated, work well independently and on a team;

Must have good written and verbal skills;

Must have good critical thinking and problem solving skills.

Travel Requirements:

Travel requirements for the position includes 45% local and 5% overnight.
