Nationwide, KIPP students complete four-year college at a rate of 36 percent, comparable to the national average for all students and approximately three times higher than the average of students from low-income communities.You can see all our job opportunities at .Job DescriptionThe OpportunityThe McKinney Vento and Other Special Populations (OSP) Coordinator is an integral part of the KTX S3 team and will further the mission of KIPP by effectively working to remove barriers to learning for our students who are identified as McKinney-Vento and OSP including Military associated, Foster Care students, and Migrant students. Enhancing the McKinney Vento program across KTX, the McKinney-Vento Coordinator is responsible for supporting students and staff by identification of students, providing support, fostering community partnerships, and building relationships with families. Key Responsibilities:

  • Federal Guidelines and KTX policies and procedures
    • Abides by all federal guidelines as they pertain to the eligibility of children and provisions of services for McKinney-Vento and Other Special Populations.
    • Provide training and support for school-based staff surrounding federal and KTX policies.
    • Ensure that all students have proper classification documentation.
    • Work with Sr Director of School Based Mental Health and Managing Director of Student Wellness on requests from the Texas Education Agency related to McKinney-Vento and Other Special Populations
    • Family and Community Engagement
      • Ensure that families and students have access to Welcome Packets and are aware how to access services and resources.
      • Assist schools with new family and student enrollment, transition, and provide resources to obtain prior records.
      • Disseminate McKinney Vento communication and training plan
      • Foster community relationships and partnerships in all four regions (Austin, Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio) that provide wrap around services to families and students such as case management, housing, medical care, food, and transportation
      • Serve as the SHAC liaison for KTX
      • Update KIPP Website with resources for McKinney Vento and OSP
      • Case Management and Supervision
        • Collaborate and coordinate with the KTX Student Wellness and Homeless liaison with identification, resources, and supports for students identified as McKinney Vento and OSP
        • Provide School-Based liaisons and SBMH staff with comprehensive list of identified students
        • Monitor and report student attendance and grades and provide SBMH staff, liaisons, and additional stakeholders with interventions and supports for students.
        • Coordinate with the Coordinator of Social Work Interns to provide supervision to a minimum of 4 Master Level interns across the stateQualifications
          • Master's degree in Social Work, license preferred
          • 2 years post-graduate degree social work experience preferred
          • Ability to work with a diverse group of students and families and be sensitive to social issues
          • Knowledge of community partnerships
          • Effective communication and collaboration skills
          • Ability to structure own time and manage multiple perspectives
          • Experience in leadership, understanding of system implementation and change management
          • Demonstrates the ability to understand and navigate issues of identity, power, and privilege
