As a Database Administration Specialist - Oracle on the DBA team,
you will be responsible for building and operating the database
infrastructure used by all business applications. The primary focus
will be with Oracle, SQL Server and SAP HANA database platforms -
working closely with functional teams, as well as other I/S teams,
on major developments and support issues.

Responsibilities:
* Technical skills in Oracle and SQL Server to include database
administration tasks such as maintenance and tuning, database
architecture, concepts, and routine DBA maintenance.
* Installs, configures, upgrades, patches, and operates Valero's
databases to maintain availability, optimal performance, and
compliance with Valero standards.
* Proactively identifies and assesses any issues, performs
troubleshooting, researches solutions focusing on root cause.
* Works hands-on as a team member covering all facets of database
administration from installation to query and database tuning, as
well as standards development, documentation, and working with
other technical staff to ensure the database environment is robust
and meets the customer's needs.
* Ensures the proper use of indexes and other database objects to
enable desired functionality.
* Partners with developers to build expertise in tuning tools to
ensure we are achieving acceptable performance level
statistics.
* Works with infrastructure teams to ensure database and operating
system monitoring are providing a complete readiness view.
* Performs analysis on and recommends quality complex solutions to
information system infrastructure technology
disciplines/components.
* Provides continuous inputs in maintaining software development
processes and standards.
* Occasionally leads projects or tasks.
* Works independently and efficiently with minimal supervision.
* May be required to work off-hours and on weekends for projects
and/or support.
* Some travel may be required.

This position is salaried exempt status, which means you are not
eligible for overtime pay.
Minimum Requirements (required):
* Bachelor's degree in MIS, Computer Science, Engineering,
Information Technology or related field, or equivalent.
* 5 years of DBA experience with Oracle 12c or higher or SQL Server
2016 or higher.
* Experience with tuning PL/SQL or T-SQL in order to advise
developers and be very comfortable with multiple operating systems
(Windows 2016/2019 and Linux).
Preferred Requirements:
* Experience with Oracle Enterprise Manager / Cloud Control.
* Windows PowerShell scripting.
* Experience with Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS),
Reporting Services (SSRS), and Policy Management.
* Experience with SAP HANA.
