Job Description:
Provides quality, comprehensive out-patient (as per individual
employment agreements) health care services (Primary and Specialty
Care), which fall under his/her field of training, including but
not limited to diagnosis, treatment, coordination of care,
preventive care, and health maintenance etc. to the group's
patients. Reports directly to the Medical Director of Specialty
regarding clinical issues and activities related to the delivery of
medical care. In addition, a Physician is a member of the GMG team,
and as such, is expected to be familiar with the philosophy, goals
and objectives of the group and work collaboratively to achieve
them. They must be cognizant of, and comply with all GMG policies
and procedures, as well as pertinent state and federal
regulations.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Examines,
diagnoses, treats and/or refers patients assigned to physician's
panel, (as per individual employment agreements); prescribes
pharmaceuticals, other medications, and treatment regimens as
appropriate to assessed medical conditions.Keeps and maintains
appropriate and accurate records and patient charts relating to the
professional services furnished to each patient seen in accordance
with GMG's established Health Information Management policies and
procedures to include providing appropriate and legible
documentation.Assures continuity of care by providing comprehensive
medical services on a timely basis as per Clinic schedule within
GMG's scope of practice and the provider's training.Refers patients
for appropriate specialty care services, lab and x-ray and any
other ancillary services that are appropriate for patient's
management and care.Reviews all lab and x-ray reports (and other
pertinent reports) for patients under his/her care on a timely
basis and makes medical management decisions
appropriately.Maintains appropriate productivity standards of
specialty as established by GMG; maintains appropriate and
efficient patient flow and minimize schedule changes and
absences.Provides excellent internal/external customer service via
telephone, fax, or face-to-face contact to assist patients with
their health care needs.Trains, mentors, and supervises mid-levels,
students, and other clinical support staff, as appropriate.Responds
appropriately and on a timely manner to after hour calls regarding
patient care.Follows established departmental and clinic policies,
procedures, and objectives; continuous quality improvements
objectives and safety, environmental, and/or infection control
standards.Participates in specified health promotion, education
and/or prevention programs as needed i.e., diabetes
collaborative/health fairs etc.; attends and participates in clinic
meetings / departmental meetings and other clinic functions as
required by GMG.Performs in addition to the above, job duties and
expectations outlined in the physician employment agreement and
performs other related duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS:Must
possess a current unrestricted license to practice Medicine in the
State of TexasAnnual continuing medical education as required by
Board specialty.Must be registered and have current DEA, DPS and
other such certificates to legally operate a practitioner in the
State of TexasHospital privileges at designated area hospitals if
required for specialty.Bilingual in English and Spanish
desired.Certified in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)SUPERVISORY
RESPONSIBILITIES:Supervises mid-level practitioners (physician
assistants and advance practice nurses etc.)Supervises students in
training or rotating at GMG, as applicable.Administrative Duties:
Exercise discretion, confidentiality, safety, and independent
judgment.Work Environment: Clinical Office Setting. There could be
exposure to communicable diseases, bodily fluids, toxic substances,
ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations, and other conditions
common to a clinic environment.Physical Demands: Reasonable
accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities
to perform the essential functions. Requires manual dexterity,
sitting, standing, stooping, reaching, kneeling, crouching,
bending, walking, lifting up to 40 lbs. Close vision and ability to
