Job Description:
SummaryUnder general direction, is responsible for maintaining
dockets for the District Courts; overseeing notification of all
parties involved on criminal case settings; developing and
implementing procedures in the disposition of District Court cases;
and performs related duties as required.Duties and
Responsibilities* Maintains the master docket for District Courts
and prepares the monthly, weekly and daily dockets for the court*
Sets and oversees special dockets for revocation of probation
hearings, pleas of guilty, all pre-trial matters and sentencing*
Attends and assists court in calling dockets to get announcement
and resetting cases for date* Oversees notification to attorneys,
defendants, bondsmen and probation officers on criminal case
settings* Develops and implements efficient procedures on dockets
and case flow to enable fair and speedy disposition in all District
Court cases* Notifies jail division of defendants in custody and
their scheduled dates and time for appearances in court* Monitors
the daily jail population* Performs related duties as
requiredMinimum Qualifications* Graduation from an accredited
college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Public
Administration, Criminal Justice or a closely related field and
three (3)years court operations or administration experience; or an
equivalent combination of education and experience* Good knowledge
of court procedures and case flow management; knowledge of
indigency requirements* Skill in communicating effectively with
hostile, abusive or irrational individuals; skill in analyzing
legal information* Proficient in software programs such as
Microsoft XP Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook* Ability
to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing; ability
to operate personal computer and basic office equipment; ability to
establish and maintain effective working relationships with
co-workers, County employees, Elected/Appointed Officials, judges,
attorneys, outside organizations, the news media and the general
public* Must secure and maintain valid Texas Certification in Trial
Court Management within two (2)years after employment* Must secure
and maintain a favorable background investigation and clearance*
Must clear a pre-employment physical and a pre-employment drug
screen test* Required to be on-call 24-hours a day* May be required
to work more than 40 hours during the work weekWorking Conditions
and Physical Demands:* Generally working in indoor conditions*
Occasionally moves items weighing up to 10- 25 pounds* Occasionally
moves about the office* Frequently communicates with others; must
be able to exchange accurate information* Generally operates a
computer and other office productivity machinery* Positions self to
perform essential functions* Must be able to remain in a stationary
