Come Work at HJF! HJF is seeking a Research Associate to support the Combat Casualty Care program at the Naval Medical Research Unit " San Antonio (NAMRU-SA) in San Antonio, TX. HJF provides scientific, technical and programmatic support services to NAMRU-SA. Responsible for supporting laboratory based research applying the latest scientific knowledge towards the solution of a broad range of theoretical and practical problems in the areas of hemorrhage and resuscitation, immunomodulation, direct energy Bioeffects, and bioassay development. Responsible for research and/or development in collaboration with others for projects. Responsible for implementing and maintaining research files, assisting with development of standard operating procedures, assisting in the development of training program for staff and maintaining the training program, recommending changes to protocols, initiating and maintaining regulatory requirements, and overseeing work of junior staff. Responsibilities: 1. Reports on stats of activities. 2. Implement and maintain research files. 3. Recommend changes to protocols. 4. Assist with the development of standard operating procedures. 5. Assist with the development of training program. Implement the training program. 6. Initiate and maintain regulatory IRB requirements. 7. Coordinate the implementation of sponsored and PI initiated research studies, including regulatory requirements, maintenance of study records and all activities associated with internal and external audits in coordination with the PI. 8. Modify and plan research experiments, procedures, tests, or survey instruments. 9. Assist with preparation for presentations and written published articles. 10. Assist in managing the study budget. 11. Performs other duties as assigned. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to coordinate the implementation of research studies, including regulatory requirements, maintenance of study records and all activities associated with internal and external audits. Ability to research and collect date through complex laboratory/scientific experiments, techniques, and procedures. Ability to do library research. Ability to develop, organize and maintain the study database. Responsible for data validation and quality control. Laboratory veterinary technician experience is required for this position. Some veterinary technician work/duties (working with large animal models) may be required. Minimum Education/Training Requirements: Masters degree in a scientific discipline required. Minimum Experience: 2+ years experience Physical Capabilities: Long periods of standing and sitting.
