Job Description:

Who We Are: Our team serves the marine, locomotive, mining, oil and gas, and power generation large engine (> 1000 kW) markets with a wide range of performance, emissions, and mechanical research and development activities. Objectives of this Role:

  • Support operation of large engine test cells.
  • Develop understanding of engine test systems, test cell configurations, use data acquisition system, and interface with engineering staff and division support teams.
  • Participate in on-the-job training and assist technical staff with engine installations, basic fabrication tasks, engine modifications, test cell modifications, test cell instrumentation calibrations and test cell operations.
  • Engage with the entire team to ensure high operational efficiency and provide high quality results to our clients. Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:
    • Operate test cells and observe, monitor, and record data while adjusting engine and test cell equipment to achieve defined specs.
    • Work with engineering staff and support staff to complete testing. Involved in installation and removal of test articles.
    • Follow written and verbal instruction from supervisors and project leaders. Interface with test cell computers, emissions analyzers, and related test cell equipment.
    • Operate test cells and observe, monitor, and record data while adjusting engine and test cell.
    • Demonstrate basic understanding of engines and mechanical systems.
    • Work safely with hand and power tools and adhere to all safety policies and procedures.
    • Retain new skills required for laboratory operations and test procedures.
    • Work productively and effectively in a team or as individual contributor.
    • Demonstrate willingness to learn and follow directions from team members with the desire to learn quickly and participate in a variety of tasks.
    • Must be able to perform all tasks in a safe and efficient manner and be available to work shift work and overtime when needed.
    • Record and document pertinent test and test cell information in logbook and follow all written test procedures. Requirements:
      • Requires a high school diploma or equivalent
      • Automotive/mechanical, Engine Technology classes preferred
      • Shift work required
      • 0-2 years: Automotive/mechanical experience obtained from either high school, vocational training or hands-on engine/mechanical repair work
      • Experience with the proper selection and use of hand and power tools
      • Welding and fabrication experience/knowledge or ability to learn
