Description Performs skilled labor in support of the installation, maintenance, and repair of sanitary sewer and potable water assets for the Utilities Operations Division. Responsible for assisting in the operation, maintenance, and repairs of closed caption television (CCTV) equipment, performing routine to difficult repairs of mechanical, electrical and electronic equipment, and performing PACP, MACP, and LACP inspections. Maintains the County's utility systems by clearing easements and performing sewer vacuum, gravity and force main repairs. Operates backhoes, tractors dump trucks, combination unit trucks and jet rodders to perform preventive maintenance to County sewer systems. Minimum Qualifications High school graduate or equivalent and 1-2 years experience with in-ground plumbing and utility work; or any equivalent combination of training and experience. Must have general knowledge of the procedures for operating, inspecting, and maintaining assigned equipment.General knowledge of traffic laws and regulations, as well as the occupational hazards and safety precautions necessary for the safe operation of motorized equipment required.Must have a valid Virginia Class B Permit at the time of application. A valid Class B Commercial Driver's License with endorsements for air brakes and tank vehicles issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia, or the ability to obtain such license and endorsements within six months of employment is required.Successful completion of VDOT Intermediate Work Zone Traffic Control, Confined Space, Trench Safety, and 10-hour OSHA training required within one year of employment.Must successfully complete the Pipeline, Manhole, and Lateral Assessment Program (PACP,MACP, and LACP) within 2 years of employment.Safety shoes required. Supplemental Information Drug testing and criminal background check conducted prior to employment.Work is performed outdoors under all types of weather conditions with exposure to the usual hazards associated with outside maintenance and construction work.This position is considered an essential position (County designation as ALPHA) which requires the individual report to work during inclement and extreme weather conditions outside of normal working hours, or when County offices are closed, in addition to being on-call on a regularly scheduled basis.
